The disk is dead, long live the disk!!

Spent practically the whole day ( well starting from 4pm anyway) in front of my computers - yep my ol' hugeass laptop and my brand new ghor-geus desktop i rigged up at Low Yat Plaza. Nothin much, just an Athlon 64 3500+ and a GeForce 6800 Ultra, that old hat. Begrudingly forced to expose it to the flotsam and jetsam of broadband when i had to come online with it to look for disk recovery programs.

Yep while i was out , i left my laptop running a final Norton scan as i was finally gonna jump ship and give it a clean reinstall soon. But my cousin who was passing my my room was wondering why my laptop was so hot and noisy and turned it off mid-scan, and in the faktap state it was it couldn't muster another restart. Hard disk hanchusss....so i had to grab a casing to put it in and spent the whole day deep scanning the drive to recover the stuff i havent quite backed up. Ergo, i spent the day internet-proofing my new box and reinstalling XP on my laptop ( had another 2.5" HD handy from my now defunct G4).


Oh yeah , haven't blogged for a while have i?

Stuff's been piling up all this while, so lets have a REALLY brief recap.

Week One
Barely had 24 hrs at home, then had to go back to Kedah for my grandmas one year wake thingy. Thats 4 days gone - then another 2 in Penang, as i had to follow me mum to a wedding and hang around while she did some work there the next day too. My taste buds and intestinal tract were left in a catatonic state after 6 days of truly frenzied eating - all things Thai, all things Penang, and everything else for that matter. After 4 years, i've definitely got the 'Welcome Home' binge down to an art.

Week Two
Mostly just recovering from that uber eating binge as not many guys are back yet. Picked up midweek after bumping into a fuckload of people at 1 Utama while getting light bulbs. Cempakans (17) night out at Poppy that Saturday. Got rather smashed, i gather. Also learnt after a few days not to cook when you've just woken up, what more after sharpening your knife the day before. Didja know that fingertip grows faster than nail? I didnt!

Week Three to present
Once almost everyone was back the usual summer-isms started. Movies, mamak, cybercafes, gambling, that old hat. Totally lost track of time - was goin out practically everyday. Managed to meet up with the faaab-beau Petronas scholars too. Happy 21st, Puterayy!! Oh yeah and discovered widgets on windows via Konfabulator. Up yours, Dashboard!

Yeaps i realized i haven't been online much either. When i do get to spend some time on my comp its to catch up with some gaming. And i PROMISE i have some rants coming up, especially about Akademi Fantasia. Well that or how the house conveniently falls apart everytime i get back, and i'm the only one in the house that actually knows how to use a drill/hammer/saw. Wouldn't mind making a little noise about the crazy shit UMNO has been saying recently either. If only i can get myself to sit down and blog like this again anytime in the next week or so. Oh well.
