yeeeehaAW!

Dayymn its good to be home.

Been back since early Monday morn, where my father and i conspired to surprise my mom at some convention she was at in town. Kinda worked, except daddy-o only called me and unintelligibly told me to hide when they were just around the corner. The flight was also lovely - caught a thunderstorm in the sky, and the usual tricolor sunrise. Also ended up seating next to a warwick grad. Kudos to MAS for chucking in the video on demand system back in economy class, although melepas on an upgrade this time. Woulda liked soo much to try all the new fa-bouu comforts in business.

In just less than 3 days i've caught up on a lot of eating. True, the whole "come back and gorge" thing is gettin old after almost 4 years, but its still fun - althought my stomach is still in shock after bubur pedas, sarawak laksa, chicken rice, rojak, sotong kangkong, lin chee kang, sambal belacan, grilled skate with air asam and what not. And my aunty definitely knows i'm back in the kitchaaynn - everything with an edge is razor sharp again.

Got some catching up to do on Akedemi Fantasia though, as both my parents are elbows deep in it. After just watching one update , with the even more kampong cast - half are from east malaysia and half of em can't speak english at all, i've relegated myself to watching it with my parents for just one reason. The rather hot eurasian choreographer, Linda Hashim. There is a little bit more talent in this bunch though.

Gettin y'all up to speed...

After gettin back from my weeklong sojourn in London - hopping trains and coaches due to railworks just to make the goddamn MSA BBQ - It was pretty quiet for the last week of term. A second BBQ didn't happen, and the only partyin we did was the free international soc's HEAT event on thurs. Without going into details, yeah it was goooood. Especially since i was really in the mood to party. Why you ask? - against all odds, i got a 1st ! Well not exactly an amazing 1st, but still a 1st nonetheless! I was going to be overjoyed with a 2-1, but heyy!. Now all i need to resume my Petronas scholarship is the presidents' (of goddamn petronas, not just the educational division - dunno why - it was all clear up to him )"okay" , which wont be that easy to get. Looks like there's gonna be more brown-nosing and CV flogging to be done here....

Havent done much else back home - gotta wait for my transcripts to start on all that. Haven't seen anyone else back home either. Now i gotta wait out for another week cos i got a flight tonight up north for my grandmas' 1 year wake ceremony at the temple. At least i'll only be serving monks, and not a throng of relatives that come outta nowhere. While they're chanting i'll just be thinking more about the tricked-out shuttle PC i'm gonna slap together when i get back. Even thinking of the specs alone almost makes me grunt.

Caught "Sepet" on the flight back. On one side, it feels just like a looong version of those sentimental ads Yasmin Ahmad's good for, but then again, it still manages to be quite engaging at times despite the rickety story, syncopated screenplay and generally stiff, clumsy acting ( save for Ida Nerina & Harith Iskandar, who somehow manages to get away with using the term 'MILF' in a m'sian movie)

Dammit i got more good rants coming up when i get back - haiya gotta go to airport in a few minutes....tak sempat laarr - hope i remember them by then. Anyhoo to sum it up:

1. Airline food is the refuse collected from the deepest pits of the Twisting Nether.
2. MAS' nasi lemak, however, is personally made by Satan himself , mostly from the intestinal scrapings of a thousand damned.
3. My parents, god bless them , still have the IT capacity of a stone pestle.
4. Oh yeah - true friends are those who have faith in you, and redemption is sweeter than ambrosia itself.

"chiibai....macam puki nak tangga - clean properly!" - my mother, suddenly being a lot more liberal with her vocab around the house.
